What will my reiki session be like?
You should be dressed in simple, loose fitting clothing. Any comfortable clothing is acceptable, but sweats, T-shirt and soft pants or shorts work best. Tight garments and belts are not conducive to relaxation. Shoes should be removed.
The right environment.
To receive the full Reiki experience, and to facilitate “letting go” into a meditative, relaxed state…a quiet, safe place is required. Distractions such as ringing telephones in the environment will be eliminated; as will other interruptions. We will ask you to turn off your cell phones as well.
Every effort is made to ensure a relaxing and spiritually enriching experience. You’ll receive your Reiki treatment while reclining on a massage table in a dimly lit room, and soothed by soft music.
What happens in a Reiki session.
During a Reiki session, the client will rest comfortably on a massage table on their back or stomach. Unlike massage therapy, no articles of clothing are removed. A session can either be hands-on, where the Practitioner will apply a light touch during the session, or hands-off where the Practitioner will hover his/her hands right above the body. The client can indicate their preference before or during the session.
The recipient of Reiki might feel heat. This heat is above normal body temperature. They might feel a tingling sensation. This may be experienced as pins and needles, a magnetic ‘force field’. The recipient may also feel nothing at all or nothing but sheer relaxation. The recipient may fall into a deep sleep.
A Reiki session lasts approximately 60 minutes; depending on your needs…so, you’ll want to allow time in your schedule to insure a comfortable transition from the Reiki experience back to your normal state of being. Typically, you’ll emerge from a Reiki treatment feeling deeply relaxed, with a sense of well being and inner peace.
Benefits of Reiki.
A one-hour Reiki session can produce the effects equivalent to 4 hours of restful sleep. It can remove blocks in the body – physical, mental, emotional, creative, and/or spiritual; foster peace and compassion; relieve tension; empower goals and intentions; and heal past or present conditions. You do not have to believe in Reiki in order to experience the value/benefits from it, although a willingness to receive allows for a strengthened energetic connection.
Reiki with Egyptian healing rods.
If guided, I will have you hold the Egyptian healing rods in your hands, while I give you Reiki. The copper in the right hand and the zinc in the left. Working with the Rods and Reiki is a very powerful healing experience. The rods really compliment a Reiki healing session.
Reiki is completely safe and will complement any medication or medical treatment. Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment. If you have a physical, emotional, or mental problem you should see your doctor. A reiki practitioner will NOT diagnose or recommend any form of treatment.
